BELINDA RIDGEWOOD QUILT #065

linkage1951: I'm here at NetRoots Nation 13 in San Jose, and I have thewonderful opportunity to interview a Community Quilt recipient. Can you introduce yourself and tell us about your quilt.

belinda: I'm sorry. I'm Belinda Ridgewood, and my quilt was made for me when my mother passed away.

linkage1951: Can you share some of the messages from that?

PARADISE50 QUILT #073

linkage1951: We're here at NetRoots Nation, and it's my opportunity to interview one of the Community Quilt recipients. I'd like him to introduce himself and tell us about his quilt.

paradise50: My name's paradise50 on Daily Kos. My real name is John Struthers. I was diagnosed with throat cancer in January last year, which is 2012 I was part of several communities on Daily Kos. One that I was pretty involved with was called J-Town at the time. I let it be known that I was having this horrendous treatment in my future, and the community got together and decided to have a quilt made for me. So, I couldn't believe it.

MSSPENTYOUTH QUILT #003

linkage1951: We're at NetRoots Nation, and it's my pleasure to talk to one of the Community Quilt recipients. Can you introduce yourself to our viewers?

msspentyouth: Sure. My name is Kim Yeman (sp?). On Daily Kos, I'm also known as  MsSpentYouth. I've been blogging on Daily Kos for oh, many, many a  year. Four years ago, just a couple days before I went to a NetRoots  Nation Convention in Austin, I believe, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor, and it's non-cancerous, and it's slow growing, but it's inoperable because of some consequent issues, because I like to be difficult, you know. I'm a true troublemaker.

QUILT #023

linkage1951: We're here at NetRoots Nation 13. And it's my opportunity here to interview one of the recipients of the community quilt. Can I ask you to tell us a bit about what the quilt means to you.

cskendrick: My name is Christian Kendrick. I'm known by the highly secretive name of cskendrick at Daily Kos. The quilt, when it came, was...it was a reminder that there was a world waiting for me. And it was a physical sign of what my wife Mary had already told me that many people online had sent their best wishes and their concerns, and that they had even formed the modern-day version of a concern circle, a Facebook pet group to receive the updates. Most of the folk there were Daily Kos people.

PEREGRINE KATE QUILT #60

linkage1951: We're at NetRoots Nation 13 in San Jose, and this is my opportunity to interview one of the Community Quilt recipients. Can you introduce yourself and talk a bit about your Community Quilt.

peregrin kate: My name on Daily Kos is Peregrine Kate. The quilt was, for me, a singular blessing. I had been on Daily Kos as a diarist for only a very short period of time after lurking for many years. I'd written, maybe, two, three, four diaries at the most when I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer in January of 2011. Unfortunately for me, the diagnoses kept getting worse and worse.
