Quilt Recipients

Our friend, Eclectablog, for some time has suffered from diverticulitis that put him in the hospital twice earlier this year and causes intense, debilitating pain while it is happening.

Community Quilt For edgeryHe has been advised this is going to keep happening unless he has a major surgery.  Said surgery will be happening in a couple weeks — and Eclectablog will be off work, recovering, for six to eight weeks.

Let’s make him the warmest, softest, most colorful get well card ever — a community quilt filled with loving and supportive messages from all his friends at Daily Kos.  He will be able to rest under it and draw support from it while recovering — and get pleasure from the words of his friends for years and years after all is healed and his health fully returned.

Here’s how it works.  Leave a message for Eclectablog in the comments below — something short enough that I can write it withing a 4” square — and I will let you know I have picked it up by giving you a {{{{hug}}}}.  When we have all the messages (at least 44 is desirable but we can certainly have more), I will transcribe them on muslin in archival ink.  They will be heat set for permanence and then my sister and I will create a colorful quilt for Eclectablog, designed just for him.

It takes lots of time and material to make a community quilt and it is a living for me and my sister. If you would like to contribute toward the cost of this quilt, here is a PayPal link — or message me for an address should you prefer a check.  $20/message is suggested by no worries if you cannot afford to donate.  We still want your message!  This is a crowdfunded thing and some always give more to cover messages for those who are short on funds.

Please note, if you leave a message in PayPal or somewhere other than the comments below, please Kos Mail me to make sure I pick it up.

Check here for a list of our completed quilts -- there have been 154 to date!

We are currently working on our 155th quilt, for MaureenMower who has been suffering from an excrutiatingly painful deep wound in her leg, that, if it will not heal, might require amputation.

We are also collecting messages for Rosebuddear's quilt — she has been suffering chronic pain from an injury.
