The Community Quilt Project’s mission is to bring people together in a positive way, to give comfort where we can, and to provide willing quilters with the means to do good works.

My sister and I were so happy when Markos Moulitsas asked if we might do a community quilt to hang in the new Daily Kos offices. What a great idea! Many of you provided messages and we made a quilt with them, featuring blocks that we have used in prior community quilts. WARNING: Photo heavy diary!

The Community Quilt Project began on September 9, 2009 with a quilt for the blogger known as othniel. Othniel was gravely ill and was due to have a surgery he feared he might not survive. To help him, Sara Reed had an inspiration came to make a quilt for him bearing messages of love and support from his internet community, written in archival ink on muslin.
