My sister and I were so happy when Markos Moulitsas asked if we might do a community quilt to hang in the new Daily Kos offices.  What a great idea!  Many of you provided messages and we made a quilt with them, featuring blocks that we have used in prior community quilts. Community Quilt Project Mission Statement

The Community Quilt Project’s mission is to bring people together in a positive way, to give comfort where we can, and to provide willing quilters with the means to do good works. Unlike like the sewing bees of old where neighbors came together to quilt in friendship, we are working in a digital age where physical distance does not matter.

We are taking friendship quilting to a new level, connecting people with needle and thread.

Community Quilt Project History

The Community Quilt Project began on September 9, 2009 with a quilt for the blogger known as othniel.  Othniel was gravely ill and was due to have a surgery he feared he might not survive.  To help him, Sara Reed had an inspiration came to make a quilt for him bearing messages of love and support from his internet community, written in archival ink on muslin.
